Apparently, this is a river of glass created from the heat of the original battle 1,000 years ago when Martek captured Khalitharius. The final Star Gem is apparently located somewhere in the city, and there is supposed to be a way to use all five of them to gain access to Martek's Sphere of Power; this can then be used to get rid of the Fire Lord once and for all.  As they travel, they see signs of combat between Khalitharius and the Djinn they released to cover their backs while they search for the last gem. They accomplished this with some aplomb, hardly coming across anything until the final encounter with the giant Efreet, who fled rather than confront them due to an enchanted amulet the group was carrying. They didn't know this at the time, but the route they took through the Crypt of Bard Al-Mosak to find the princess allowed them to avoid several powerful undead under his command; at one point there were five wights waiting for them in the same room. Now back at the Oasis, they lay the amulet over the markings on the princess' palm: The

The characters have obtained three of five Star Gems they need in their quest to find Martek's sphere of power, and they know from previous oracular encounters that the fourth is located in a place called the Crypt of Badr Al-Mosak, which lies a few days' journey roughly eastwards from the Oasis.  However, still missing from the nomads' camp is the betrothed of the Sheikh's son and heir, Princess Shadalah. Tradition states that the palm of the chosen betrothed of the tribal leader is marked with the favour of Ainu, the One God of the desert peop

Along with a guildsman they rescued from the cult, they are currently right in the middle of the map as you look at it, after having discovered a particularly well hidden doorway behind an evil altar with a monkey statue on it (11d): They go to their left, eventually emerging into the hidden temple of Set (14), an area unknown even to the cultists: There is no Star Gem here, but there is a really nasty statue of the ancient deity, with a glowing pit in front of it. The layout is identical to the cult temple the characters ha

It is now approaching midnight, and the man they saw has gone around to the other side of the monolith and disappeared after meeting a couple of friends. The group is certain there must be a concealed entrance there somewhere - they already know that the Star Gem they seek is supposed to be in a hidden Temple of the ancient god Set. Checking that everything seems clear, the party does indeed find a concealed way into the monolith, with Marion (after doing her Shadowdance) quietly opening a cunningly concealed entran

This isn't something I do often enough, but I am hoping to improve. Basically, my work life is horrendous, and it has been seriously getting in the way of whet really matters, i.e. gaming. This is the reason I am well behind on posting campaign updates here, as well as almost entirely inactive on my figure gaming blog. However, the lockdown means that, strangely, I am getting through the admin and emails much more efficiently than if I were physically at work. In between times, I am painting more, partly as a way of keeping me sane, but also to break up the screen time. I'll write some emails, paint a colour, mark an essay, paint a colour, and so on. This means that I am finally making progress on various stalled painting projects, among which is my fantasy stuff. I have slowly been refurbishing all of my (really old!) figures, many of them painted originally with enamels. They have dulled down really badly, but a quick highlight with acrylics is doing wonders. I have also be
